What it costs

Prices below are installed, both doors, at your yard or ours. Most local shops make you call for a number. We would rather you know before you dial.

Running more than one truck

Fleet work is priced by the job, not per vehicle. Business name plus USDOT and MC on both doors of every truck.

Add a truck later and it is a phone call. We keep your production file, so the next one matches the last one exactly.

Outside our install area

The same USDOT + MC set ships free anywhere in the country for $127, pre-masked and taped in position, with a printed step-by-step install guide. You supply the labor, you keep the difference.

What the law actually requires

Under 49 CFR 390.21, every self-propelled commercial vehicle has to display, on both sides:

• The legal name or single trade name of the carrier operating it
• The letters USDOT followed by the number issued to that carrier

The marking has to contrast sharply with the background and be readable from 50 feet in daylight while the vehicle is stopped.

The rule does not name a letter height — it names a distance. In practice that means two inches minimum. We cut three inches as standard, because two-inch letters on a dirty door are exactly the kind of thing an inspector writes up.

There is no federal 2-inch minimum, whatever most sites tell you — and your MC number is not federally required either. We wrote up what 49 CFR 390.21 actually says, quoted verbatim with the eCFR link: USDOT number size requirements — what the regulation actually says.

A few things that catch people out:

• If you operate under someone else's authority, the marking shows their name and USDOT number, not yours — plus NOT FOR HIRE if you are also running the truck personally.
• Magnetic signs are legal, but they have to stay on and stay legible. They blow off at highway speed and they walk off at rest stops.
• Washington intrastate carriers may also need a WUTC number displayed. Tell us and we lay it out with the rest.

How it works

1. Text us a photo of the door — 509-720-8239. That is genuinely all we need to price it.
2. We send a to-scale layout proof. Nothing goes on the machine until you say yes.
3. We cut it and install it — at your yard, your jobsite, or our shop. A two-door set takes about 45 minutes.

Warranty

Installed by JZAC: up to 7 years of workmanship coverage on eligible installations we perform, subject to material, surface, environmental, care and application conditions.

Self-apply kits: material coverage only. Because we do not control surface preparation or application, customer installation and workmanship are not covered.

Either way, if we cut it wrong or the film is defective, we recut it at our cost. We run 3M commercial cast vinyl on everything — it does not crack, shrink or chalk out the way cheap calendared film does after two Inland Northwest winters.
