Boat Registration Numbers — Any State, Legal Size

2. We prepare your proof — we email within one business day to confirm your registration number exactly as issued, and your colour.
3. You approve it. Nothing goes on the machine before you say yes.
4. We cut your numbers from 3M marine cast vinyl.
5. We ship your kit free, or schedule your install.

• Washington (WAC 308-93-145): WN prefix, plain vertical block over 3 inches, solid contrasting colour, both sides of the bow, space or hyphen between groups. No I, O or Q.
• Idaho: ID prefix, 3 inch block letters, validation sticker within 6 inches.
• Script, italic and outline fonts are not legal for registration numbers. Boat names and hailing ports can use them — see Boat Name & Hailing Port Lettering.

We do not cut vinyl for a USCG official number. Under 46 CFR 67.121 that number must be permanently affixed to an interior structural part of the hull in block characters not less than 3 inches. Vinyl does not satisfy it, and nobody here can sign off on an exception. State bow numbers on this page are a different requirement entirely, and vinyl is exactly what they call for.

Calendared film shrinks. On a hull that means the edges lift, water gets under the letters, and by the second season you are looking at a shadow of your old numbers. We run 3M commercial cast air-release film on every marine job. It conforms to the curve, it does not shrink back, and it survives trailering, ramp scuffs and a Coeur d'Alene summer. Gelcoat, painted hulls, aluminium and poly kayaks all take it.

Prepping the application area is included. Old vinyl removal, damaged surfaces, gelcoat work and travel outside our service area are add-ons — quoted in person at the inspection, before any work starts.

If JZAC vinyl fails because of a defect in the material or a JZAC installation, we replace it. Self-apply customer installation workmanship is not covered, because we do not control surface preparation or application. Either way, if we cut it wrong or the film is defective, we remake it.

These numbers are cut to your registration, so they cannot be returned for a change of mind once the approved artwork has been cut. That is why we send a proof first and cut nothing until you approve it. If we make a mistake, we fix it — call or text 509-720-8239.
