A body shop hung a new door on the truck and the lettering went in the dumpster with the old one. Or the driver's side has been baking in the sun for six years and it is chalked, cracked and lifting while the passenger side still looks fine.

You need one door. Not two.

Do not buy the pair for one door

The full both-doors FMCSA set is $127. This single side is $55. If only one door needs lettering, this is the product — buying the pair to use half of it costs you $72 for vinyl that goes in a drawer.

The marking rule

Under 49 CFR 390.21, a commercial motor vehicle operating in interstate commerce must display the legal name or trade name of the operating carrier and the USDOT identification number on both sides of the power unit, in letters that contrast sharply with the background and are readable from 50 feet while the vehicle is stationary. A truck with one door lettered and one door blank is not marked. Replacing the missing side puts the unit back in display compliance.

Before we cut

To-scale layout proof for your approval. Tell us which side — driver or passenger — and send your carrier legal name and USDOT number exactly as registered.

Add-ons

Prepping the application area is included. Old vinyl removal, damaged surfaces, gelcoat work and travel outside our service area are add-ons — quoted in person at the inspection, before any work starts.

Warranty

If JZAC vinyl fails because of a defect in the material or a JZAC installation, we replace it. Self-apply customer installation workmanship is not covered, because we do not control surface preparation or application.

Either way, if we cut it wrong, the film is defective, or it arrives damaged in transit, we recut and reship it at our cost.

• The owner and the inspector own placement and final acceptance. We own the cut.

JZAC Designs does not issue, and has not been issued, FAA, USCG, OSHA, FMCSA, CHP, or state labor department product approval. Meeting a display rule is the operator's duty. We cut the mark. You and your inspector accept the install.
